Intermittent Operation of Tailgate Release Button
(Replace Switch Lever and Compression Spring Washer)
Models Affected:
2003 LW200 and LW300 Saturn Vehicles
Condition:
Some customers may comment on intermittent operation of the tailgate release button when opening the tailgate from outside the vehicle.
Cause:
This condition may be caused by intermittent contact between the switch lever and micro switch housed within the tailgate lock cylinder assembly.
Correction:
Replace the switch lever and the compression spring washer.
Service Procedure:
Liftgate Lock Assembly-Wagon
Removal
1.
Remove liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel-Wagon Removal procedure in the 2002-2003 L-Series Body Removal & Installation
Service Manual.
2.
Disconnect electrical connector from lock assembly.
3.
Remove liftgate lock assembly retaining nuts.
4.
Disconnect latch cable from lock cylinder assembly. Remove cylinder assembly.
