Cruise Control Servo Cable: Adjustments
With Scan Tool
1.
Install scan tool according to manufacturers instructions.
2.
Check throttle position sensor voltage, tighten or loosen cable. If cable is too tight then loosen by turning cable until scan tool reads 0 or quits
moving, then loosen two more turns. If cable is too loose, then tighten cable until TPS has a reading, then loosen two adjuster two turns.
3.
If slug at end of cruise control to throttle cable comes off and cable comes out of cruise control module, replace speed control module. The cable
and adjuster assembly may be replaced separately only if slug has not been separated from cable at module end of assembly.
4.
Adjust cable by pulling forward and turning ring on adjuster until TPS voltage reads 0 volts, then loosen two more turns.
Less Scan Tool
1.
Remove air intake tube at throttle body.
2.
Check throttle blade position.
3.
Adjust cable by pulling forward and turning ring on adjuster until throttle blade if fully closed, then loosen two more turns.
4.
install air intake tube.
5.
Cable and adjuster assembly are not repairable, replace as an assembly. Do not remove cable and adjuster from cruise control module.
