Important: If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.
4. Install the balance shaft to the engine using the following steps:
1. Place the number one cylinder at top dead center (TDC).
2. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
3. Install the right intake balance shaft.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Notice) .
5. Install the right intake balance shaft bolt (1).
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Install the timing chain, sprocket and tensioner. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain, Sprocket, and Tensioner Replacement (See: Timing
Chain/Service and Repair) .
7. Install the condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement (See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Condenser HVAC/Service and Repair) .
