Vehicle Surges or Pulsates with Retailer Installed Cruise Control Turned-On (Replace 1991 Model Year Cruise Control Module with 1992 Model Year
Module)

AFFECTED:
All 1992 Saturns with Retailer installed cruise control
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment that the vehicle surges or pulsates with the cruise control at, or around 55 mph (88 km/h). This happens on vehicles that
have an incorrect cruise control module installed.
CAUSE:
A 1991 model year, Retailer installed cruise control kit was incorrectly installed on a 1992 vehicle.
CORRECTIVE
ACTION:
Obtain the cruise control module part number from the module installed in the vehicle. Compare this number against the part numbers listed under "Parts
Requirements" in this bulletin.

If the module is incorrect for the vehicle application, replace with the correct module. Refer to "Parts Requirements" in this bulletin for the
correct part number of the replacement module.

If the module is the correct module for the vehicle, refer to "Cruise Control Diagnostics" in the "Electronic Engine Controls Service Manual."
NOTE:
1991 cruise control modules cannot be used on 1992 vehicles. However, cruise control modules designated in the Parts Manual for 1992 vehicles, can be
used on either 1991 or 1992 vehicles.
