Battery Telltale Light Flashes Intermittently at Start of Windshield Wiper Pulse (Install Suppressor Diode)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1993 Saturns
CONDITION:
While windshield wipers are on in the intermittent, mist or wash settings, the battery telltale light may flash quickly at the start of the wiper pulse.
CAUSE:
A voltage transient from the windshield wiper module causes the voltage regulator on the generator to reset causing the battery telltale light to flash once
each time the reset occurs.
CORRECTION:
Install suppressor diode assembly into wire harness according to the following procedure.
NOTE:
This condition does not cause a malfunction in the wiper or charging system.
PROCEDURES:
1.
Locate wiper module wiring harness pass-through grommet, located in the engine compartment.
2.
Peel back tape to expose wires approximately two inches from the pass-through grommet.
