Steering Feels Stiff at 7/8 of Steering Wheel Turn to the Right and/or Pop, Clunk, Knock or Rattle Noises from Right Side of Steering Gear Assembly
(Replace Manual Steering Gear Assembly)
MODELS AFFECTED:
All 1992 and 1993 Saturn SL models equipped with manual steering, built before, and including PZ202093.
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment on pop, clunk, knock or rattle noises in the front of the vehicle, in the engine compartment area, while traveling over
rough road surfaces or while driving in a parking lot.
CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by a loose manual steering gear bushing.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
To correct this condition, replace the manual steering gear assembly with P/N 21012101. Follow "Manual Steering Gear" procedures in the "Steering
Gear Procedures" section of the "Chassis Service Manual."
