Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair
1.
To remove front lateral link, remove fuel tank as follows:
a. Remove fuel filler cap.
b. Disconnect battery ground cable.
c. When fuel line is disconnected or removed wrap fuel fitting in suitable cloth before disconnecting.
d. Remove fuel delivery line Schraeder valve cap, in engine compartment.
e. Using tool No. SA9127E or equivalent, on Schraeder valve, released fuel system pressure.
f.
Raise and support rear of vehicle 28 inches higher than front.
g. Place suitable container below fuel tank fill neck hose, then loosen connecting tube and vent hose clamps.
h. Wrap suitable cloth around filler neck connecting tube, then remove tube from tank.
i.
Using suitable socket extension, push filler neck check ball into fuel tank.
j.
Install suitable siphon hose hose in fuel tank through fuel filler, then using suitable container siphon fuel from tank.
k. Remove fill neck bracket, then disconnect fuel supply and return lines.
l.
Remove fuel tank support straps, then disconnect electrical connector.
m. Remove fuel tank assembly.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assembly.

Remove lateral link to knuckle attaching bolt, then lateral link to crossmember bolts, Fig. 1.
4.
Remove lateral link.
5.
Reverse procedure to install.
