High Pressure Safety Valve HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system.
IMPORTANT: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with a refrigerant purity identifier before recovery is recommended.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE HOSES OR LINES BEFORE SYSTEM IS FULLY DISCHARGED.
2. Remove hose bolt from compressor high side and remove hose.
3. Remove pressure relief valve.
INSTALLATION
NOTICE: Use only R-12 Refrigerant oil (mineral) to lubricate O-rings. Use of R-134a (PAG) oil will cause premature corrosion of fitting joints.
1. Lubricate pressure relief valve O-ring with new R-12 mineral compressor oil. install valve and torque to specification.
Torque: 7.2 N.m (63 in-Lbs)
2. Lubricate and install new O-ring on discharge hose with R-12 mineral oil. Install high side hose to compressor high side port. Torque to
specification.
Torque: 25 N.m (19 ft-lbs)
3. Evacuate, charge, and leak test the A/C system.
