the adapter and cylinder block threads before installing the adapter. Torque to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Make sure the oil filter gasket is removed from
the cylinder block. Do not over tighten oil filter.
b. Inspect and clean the oil filter installation surface. Wipe oil pan drip deflector and pan rail dry prior to installing a new oil filter.
c. Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.
d. Lightly screw on the oil filter until resistance is felt.
e. Using a tool, tighten the oil filter an extra 3/4 to 1 turn.
3. Fill with engine oil:
a. Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket. Torque to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
b. Fill the engine with new, recommended Energy Conserving II multigrade (API grade 5W30 SH with a starburst label) viscosity oil. Do not use
other viscosity oils such as SAE 20W-50.
c. Install oil fill cap.
4. Start engine and check for leaks.
5. Check engine oil level after engine is off for five minutes; add oil if necessary.
