Information on Engine Coolant Supplement Pellets Usage

MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1994 Saturns

PURPOSE:
Engine coolant supplement pellets have been released for use in servicing minor engine cooling system weepage conditions. Minor engine cooling
system weepage may be corrected by adding two engine coolant supplement pellets to the coolant reservoir. (One poly bag contains two engine coolant
supplement pellets.)

IMPORTANT:
A slight amount of weeping and traces of residue at the water pump weep hole (1991-1992 vehicles) or drip collector (1993-1994 vehicles) is considered
normal. The water pump should only be replaced if coolant is dripping from the water pump weep hole or drip collector while the engine is in operation
or while the system is pressurized.

Following installation of the engine coolant supplement pellets, minor system weepage, such as hose joint leaks should cease in 30 to 60 minutes of
engine operation. Water pump weep hole or drip collector leaks should be corrected within 12 hours of normal engine operation. If leakage is not
corrected within these time periods, additional diagnosis and corrective action is required. Refer to the "Engine Mechanical Service Manual" for engine
cooling system diagnosis.

IMPORTANT:
When engine coolant is changed for any reason, two engine coolant supplement pellets should be added to the coolant reservoir.
