Accelerator Cable Attachment (SOHC And DOHC).
REMOVAL
1.
Remove the SOHC air cleaner assembly.
2.
Release accelerator control cable from throttle lever.
CAUTION: Do not disassemble routing cover and cable from support bracket. Throttle cable and bracket are serviced as a one piece assembly.
3.
Remove throttle control cable support bracket attaching nuts.
4.
Release accelerator control cable from accelerator pedal assembly.
NOTE: The accelerator cable assembly can be removed and installed easier with the accelerator pedal assembly removed.
5.
Release cable retainer locking tangs from dash panel.
NOTE: An adjustable wrench can be set to the width of the hole and used to collapse the throttle cable retainer tangs.
6.
Remove cable from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1.
Route cable through front of dash from the outside in, and up between TBI unit and cam cover.
WARNING: Whenever a throttle cable assembly is installed, make sure locking tangs are engaged to front of dash. Pull on the cable to
insure the tangs are engaged.
2.
Install cable retainer into front of dash.
3.
Install accelerator control cable support bracket attaching nuts.
^ Torque: 25 Nm (19 ft lbs)
4.
Connect accelerator cable to throttle lever.
5.
Inspect air cleaner gasket and replace if torn, deteriorated, or damaged. Install air cleaner assembly or air inlet tube and resonator. Attach air inlet
and fresh air tubes.
