Power Door Locks Inoperative
(Replace and Reposition Power Door Lock Relay)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1994 Saturns equipped with power door locks.
CONDITION:
Power door locks inoperative.
CAUSE:
The packaging of the power door lock relay in the center console, could cause it to become damaged due to water intrusion, or if a beverage is
accidentally spilled into the center console area.
CORRECTION:
If the power door locks are inoperative, follow the diagnostic procedures in the "Power Distribution" section of the "Electrical Service Manual." If the
power door lock relay requires replacement for any reason, follow the procedure in this bulletin for positioning the power door lock relay. This will help
to prevent possible future damage, due to water intrusion or beverage spills in the center console area.
PROCEDURES
IMPORTANT:
On early 1991 models, if the relay is being replace due to water intrusion, refer to Technical Information Bulletin, 91-T-11 (Corporation Number
180105) (Water Leaks into Passenger and/or Luggage Compartments).
1.
Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2.
Remove center console using the procedures in the "Instrument Panel and Console" section of the "Body/Collision Repair Service Manual."
3.
Locate the power door lock relay.
4.
Disconnect power door lock relay from wiring harness.
