Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

1.
On DOHC models, remove air filter box, then lift resonator upward to disengage from support bracket.
2.
On all models, remove air induction tube.
3.
Disconnect gear selector switch electrical connector.
4.
Disconnect control lever shift cable.
5.
Remove control lever shaft attaching nut, then remove manual lever, noting lever position, Fig. 1.
6.
Remove two selector switch to transaxle case attaching bolts, then remove switch.
7.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque manual lever to control shaft attaching nut to 8 ft. lbs.
b. Adjust switch, place transaxle in D4 position, then using suitable ohmmeter, check for continuity across terminals, Fig. 2, if continuity is not
indicated, rotate switch until continuity is present.
c. Torque switch to case bolts to 142 inch lbs.
d. Torque air induction tube to 15 inch lbs.
