Rear Compartment Lid Key Cylinder Misaligned (Adjust Key Cylinder by Slightly Bending Cylinder Mounting Area)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1996 Saturn Sedans
CONDITION:
Rear compartment lid key cylinder is low or off center, when viewed from rear outside of vehicle.
CAUSE:
Installed low or off center.
CORRECTION:
Align rear compartment lid key cylinder using the following procedure.
PROCEDURES
1.
Raise rear compartment lid.
IMPORTANT:
Care should be taken when removing components from the rear compartment lid key cylinder. Dropped components could easily become trapped
inside of rear compartment lid and if not removed, could result in rattles.
2.
Disconnect rear compartment lid key cylinder lock rod.
3.
Remove E-clip retainer at rear of rear compartment lid key cylinder and remove pawl.
