Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair
DRAINING THE FUEL TANK (IF NECESSARY)
If it becomes necessary to drain the fuel tank, refer to FUEL SUPPLY AND AIR INDUCTION / COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND
REPAIR PROCEDURES / FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE.
WARNING: Draining fuel tank requires removal of the filler neck checkball to allow siphoning. Removal of the fuel tank is necessary to
replace the fuel tank checkball. Prior to tank installation, insert the checkball back into the filler neck.
PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not allow smoking or the use of open flames in the area where work on the fuel system is taking place.

WARNING: Make sure the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned on hoist. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle
is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce
the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.
WARNING: Whenever fuel line fittings are loosened or disconnected, wrap a shop towel cloth around fuel lines to collect fuel, then
relieving fuel place cloth in an approved container.
FUEL PIPE FILLER NECK REPLACEMENT
Fuel Fillpipe Replacement.
REMOVAL
1.
Remove fuel fill cap and position vehicle on a hoist and block wheels.
2.
Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
3.
Release fuel pressure.
4.
Raise rear of vehicle approximately 28 inches to a comfortable working position. This allows the fuel to flow forward in the tank away from the
fill hose opening.
WARNING: Whenever fuel tank fill neck hose is removed, catch fuel in an approved container. The container opening must be a
minimum of 300 mm (12 in.) diameter to adequately catch the fluid.
