REMOVAL
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assembly.
2.
On models equipped with ABS, disconnect wheel speed sensor electrical connector bracket.
3.
On all models, loosen but do not remove steering knuckle to strut housing attaching bolts.
4.
Place suitable floor jack below lower control arm and support.
5.
Remove upper strut attaching nuts.
6.
Slowly raise vehicle, then lower strut assembly.
7.
Remove knuckle to housing attaching bolts, Fig. 2, then place cloth over CV joint seal.
8.
Remove strut assembly.
DISASSEMBLE
1.
Using spring compressor tool No. SA9155C or equivalent and holding fixture, compress spring to unload upper strut mount.
2.
While holding strut shaft, remove strut shaft nut.
3.
Release spring compressor, then tilt strut assembly outward.
4.
Remove upper strut assembly, check for damage. replace as required.
5.
Remove strut spring and dust shield, inspect for damage, replace as required.
6.
Remove strut.
ASSEMBLE
1.
Place strut in compressor tool, then attach with strut to knuckle bolt, through lower mounting hole.
2.
Extend strut shaft to travel limit.
3.
Install dust shield, spring, spring isolator and mount, ensuring spring is properly seated in seat and isolator.
4.
Compress spring, then install strut shaft attaching nut and tighten to specifications.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install upper strut attaching nuts, tighten to specification.
2.
Install strut to steering knuckle attaching bolts, tighten to specification.
3.
On models equipped with ABS brakes, install sensor electrical connector bracket, tighten to specifications.
4.
On all models, install wheel and tighten to specifications.
5.
Lower vehicle.
