Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair
Frontal SIR System Remove or Disconnect
IMPORTANT: In the event deployment has occurred, inspect coil assembly wire for any signs of scorching, melting or other damage due to excessive
heat. If the coil has :en damaged, it must be replaced.
NOTICE: If a Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) is dropped or shows any signs of damage, replace SDM.
NOTICE: Prior to removal of the SDM, the ignition key must be in the OFF position for 10 minutes (refer to Disabling and Enabling Precautions).
REMOVAL
1. Disable the SIR system. (Refer to "Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.")
2. Lift parking brake lever.
3. Remove screw.
4. Remove parking brake cover by lifting straight off lever.
5. Move shifter to neutral. Remove ashtray from cup holder by lifting straight out.
6. Remove cup holder from console by pulling upwards starting at rear edge.
7. Remove ashtray bulb socket by lifting tab while sliding socket upwards. Then pull socket straight out.
