Important:

For intermittent conditions, try to duplicate the symptoms or display the DTCs referenced in this bulletin while performing a wiring harness
PCM connector tug test. To perform the PCM connector tug test. Securly grasp the wiring harness (wires) nearest the coupler connector and
pull/tug on the wiring harness. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Replacement

Removal

1.

Disconnect the battery negative cable. 

2.

Disconnect the wiring harness.

3.

Depress the retaining tab and remove the PCM.

4.

Remove the PCM from the housing.

Installation

1.

Install the new PCM into the housing bracket.

2.

Connect the wiring harness.

3.

Connect the battery negative cable. 

4.

Program the PCM. Use Saturn Service Stall (SSS) software release TIS 5/2004 or higher data CD. (Refer to Service Programming System (SPS)
in the SSS User's Guide.)

5.

Perform the Idle Learn procedure.
