with 3.5L V-6 Engine (VIN 4 - RPO L66)

Condition
Some customers may comment on a pop, clunk, thump, or knock noise coming from the front end of the vehicle during significant suspension movement.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the intermediate shaft contacting the front of dash.
Correction
Verify the concern, then adjust the intermediate shaft connection at the steering gear assembly, if necessary. Refer to the service procedure in this
bulletin.
Service Procedure
1.
Verify concern using Chassis Ear (SA92I7NE), or equivalent.
2.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Note:
Lock the steering column to prevent damage and a possible malfunction of the SIR system.
3.
With the steering wheel in the straight forward position, remove the ignition key.
4.
Remove the intermediate steering shaft to steering gear pinch bolt. Discard the pinch bolt.
Note:
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints,
lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint
