Rear Spoiler Makes Contact with Roof When Liftgate is Opened (Remove Rear Spoiler, Adjust Mounting Plate and Reinstall Spoiler)

Condition
Some customers may comment that the rear spoiler makes contact with the roof when the liftgate is opened.
Cause
The rear spoiler may have been installed in a slightly forward position.
Correction
Remove the spoiler. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement in SI.
Tip
Do NOT remove the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) from the spoiler this step is not necessary since the same spoiler will be reinstalled.
Loosen the mounting plate-to-liftgate fasteners and adjust the mounting plate (1) rearward, as shown by arrow.
Tighten the mounting plate fasteners and complete installation of the spoiler. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement in SI.
Tip
Use a nut from one of the threaded fasteners to tighten the four outboard retainers (pushnuts) for a better fit.
Open and then close the liftgate to verify that there is no contact between the spoiler and the roof.
