Condition
Certain 2007 Saturn VUE (non-hybrid) vehicles equipped with roof-mounted side impact airbags (RPO ASF) have a condition in which the electrical
connections from the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) to the roof-mounted side impact airbags and the safety belt pretensioner are reversed.
In frontal impacts, the safety belt pretensioners will not deploy as described in the owner manual. The driver and front seat passenger are protected in a
crash by their safety belts and, in certain frontal impacts, by the airbags. The vehicle exceeds government Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for frontal
crash protection even with this condition, but might not meet its five-star rating in the New Car Assessment Program front test. Repairing your vehicle
through this customer satisfaction program will restore pretensioner operation and five star performance.
When deployment of the roof-mounted side airbags are commanded in a side impact or rollover, the deployment of the pretensioners is commanded at
the same time, so in those conditions, performance is not affected.
Correction
Retailers are to replace the SDM and reprogram the body control module (BCM).

Involved are certain 2007 Saturn VUE (non-hybrid) vehicles equipped with roof-mounted side impact airbags (RPO ASF) and built within the VIN
breakpoints shown.
Important:
Retailers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the system(s) below. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may
be involved.
-- Canadian Saturn/Saab retailers should use GMVIS.
-- Saturn US retailers should use AS400 system.
