with Manual HVAC Controls (RPO C67) or Automatic HVAC System (RPO C68)
Attention:
Prior to following the procedures in this bulletin, check the subject vehicle VIN for application of the Inventory Upgrade Bulletin # 08270 Service
Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles-HVAC Performance - (Aug. 13, 2008). If the subject vehicle qualifies for the "Update for Inventory"
action, and it has not been performed, assure publication # 08270 is used in place of this bulletin.
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add the above Attention statement. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-01-39-007 (Section 01 - HVAC).
Condition
Some customers may comment that the outside air temperature display is inaccurate on the DIC and/or the Auto (C68) HVAC system is intermittently
too hot or too cold. This condition occurs after the vehicle has been restarted and the outside temperature is significantly different than it was the last
time the vehicle was operated.
Cause
The heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) outside air temperature (OAT) does not update correctly across the ignition cycles, causing the
software to record and keep the last outside temperature setting. The last OAT setting is then used to determine the air blend door position, which affects
the cabin temperature comfort level on the automatic HVAC systems.
Correction
Important:
Select the correct operating system or calibration file using the vehicles RPO Code (C67 or C68).
A revised calibration has been developed to address this condition. Technicians are to reprogram the HVAC Control Module using the Service
Programming System (SPS) with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the HVAC Control Module Programming and Setup procedures in
SI. As always make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
