Axle Beam: Service and Repair

Support Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle  (See: Wheels and Tires/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation  (See: Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair) .

3. Remove the exhaust muffler and resonator assembly. Refer to Muffler Replacement (LAT-2.4L, LE5 2.4L)  (See: Engine, Cooling and

4. If equipped with all wheel drive, remove the rear drive axle. Refer to Differential Replacement  () .
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement  (See: Stabilizer Bar/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension) .
6. Remove the stabilizer shaft links from the support. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement  (See: Stabilizer Bar/Stabilizer Link/Service and

Repair/Rear Suspension)

7. Remove the lower control arm from the support assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement  (See: Control Arm/Service and

Repair/Rear Suspension/Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement) .

8. Disconnect the upper control arm from the support assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement  (See: Control Arm/Service and

Repair/Rear Suspension/Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement) .

9. Disconnect the adjustable link from the support assembly. Refer to Adjust Link Replacement  (See: Steering/Tie Rod/Service and Repair/Rear

Suspension) .

10. Remove the support to body bolts and remove the support assembly from the vehicle.
