Removal Procedure
Danger: Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:

Identify how to disable high voltage.
*
Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
*
Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must
be followed.
Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.
1. Disable the hybrid high voltage system. Refer to High Voltage Disabling (See: Hybrid Drive Systems/Battery System, Hybrid Drive/Testing and
Inspection/High Voltage Disabling).
2. Disconnect the 12 volt battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (HP5) (See: Starting and
Charging/Battery/Battery Cable/Service and Repair).
3. Remove the radiator opening upper cover. Refer to Radiator Opening Upper Cover Replacement (See: Bumper/Front Bumper/Front Bumper
Cover / Fascia/Service and Repair/Radiator Opening Upper Cover Replacement).
4. Secure the radiator, air conditioning condenser, and fan module assembly to the upper tie bar to keep the assembly with the vehicle when the frame
is removed.
5. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Engine Support Fixture).
6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
7. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Service and
Repair).
8. Remove the engine splash shields. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (See: Splash Guard/Service and Repair).
9. Remove the air deflector from the frame. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement (See: Bumper/Front Bumper/Front Bumper
Cover / Fascia/Service and Repair/Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement).
