Removing and installing speed sensor on front axle
Removing and installing speed sensor on front axle
Removal:
–  Unscrew wheel bolts.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Remove the wing → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.66.
   
–  Detach speed sensor cable from rear bracket on wheel bearing housing -1-.

–  Detach speed sensor cable from its bracket -1-.
–  Disconnect connector on line for brake lining wear indicator -2- and lay down to side.

–  Remove rubber retainer from wheelhouse and disconnect connector -1-.
–  Remove ABS speed sensor from wheel bearing housing → Item.
Installation
–  Before fitting the sensor, clean the inner surface of the hole and apply solid lubricant paste → Parts catalogue.
–  Install ABS speed sensor. Tighten bolt to specified tightening torque → Item.
–  Hook speed sensor cable into brackets and install rubber retainer in wheelhouse.
Mount the wheels → Running gear, shafts, steering; Rep. gr.44
–  Turn steering wheel fully in both directions and check that rev. sensor cable is able to move freely.
Checking rotor on front axle, removing and installing
–  Unscrew wheel bolts.
–  Pull speed sensor out of wheel bearing housing.
–  Check that rotor is not damaged or dirty.
  Note
t  If the rotor is soiled or damaged, remove propeller shaft. If damaged, renew outer C.V. joint together with rotor.
t  The outer constant velocity joint will be supplied as a spare part together with the rotor → Rep. gr.40.
