–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Move the selector lever to position “Tiptronic”.
The cable can only be detached from the selector lever in this position.
   
–  Detach the upper cover-arrows- carefully, using the lever -U 30800- .

–  Disconnect the connector -A- for the printed circuit board of the cover and cut the plate clamp -arrow- fastening the knob to the selector rod.
–  Remove the unit by pulling the knob upwards.
–  Removing the centre console: → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. Gr.68

–  Detach connector -1-.
–  Disconnect the selector lever locking solenoid connector -2-.
–  Remove the two brackets → Item and → Item .
The four bolts fastening the gear selector mechanism go below.
–  Press the locking cable to the left to remove it from the gear selector mechanism.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove the sound proofing.
–  Remove the front lower trim from the underside, on both sides.

–  Unbolt the casing and disconnect the lambda probe connector.

–  Remove the forward section of the exhaust pipe.
–  Remove the tunnel reinforcement.

–  Release the primary silencer.
–  Remove the heat insulation plate from the tunnel.

–  Unbolt gear stick housing
–  Carefully move gear stick housing and cover forwards onto the selector lever cable. Take care not to damage the cover.

–  Detach the cable -3- from the selector lever -2- with the screwdriver.
–  Remove the catch downwards -1- from the selector lever cable.
–  Carefully remove the selector lever cable from the gear selection mechanism.
–  Lower the vehicle.
–  Unbolt the gear selector mechanism and remove it downwards through the tunnel.
