  W00-2439
–  Fit the attachment tool -T20157- onto the converter using one of the torque converter to drive plate nuts.
  E37-10008
–  Applying pressure, insert the torque converter into the bell and rotate until the converter hub -arrow- inserts into the interior pinion grooves of the ATF pump. The torque converter should noticeably slip inwards.
l  The torque converter is correctly fitted if:
l  It is fitted in the gearbox at an even depth all around the circumference and can be turned gently by hand.
  Note
  V32-0048
It is essential to ensure that the converter stays in position during the following assembly operations. The torque converter must not slip forwards. To do this, use the fitting tool -T20021- and the support tool -T20194- → Chapter.
  WARNING
If the torque converter is incorrectly fitted, when the gearbox is braced to the engine the drive element of the converter or the ATF pump will be damaged.
Afterwards, when fitting the gearbox, careful attention must be paid to the following point.
  WARNING
Before and during the tightening of the gearbox/engine flange bolts, repeatedly ensure that the torque converter may be rotated behind the drive plate. If the torque converter may not be rotated, it must be assumed that it is not correctly fitted and that to fully tighten the bolted joints will lead to the destruction of the torque converter drive element or of the ATF pump.
