Assembling –  Insert bevel gear with stub shaft. –  To fix cover in place, screw in two M 8 studs on opposite side.

–  Press in cover. –  Tighten hexagon bolts to specified torque. Rear final drive with freewheel

–  Assemble freewheel lock: –  Insert balls -A- (qty. 6) with high-viscosity grease in locking collar -B-. –  Set compression spring -C- on sliding sleeve -D-. –  Insert locking collar -B- in compression spring -C-, observing balls -A-. –  Set all components together on input shaft, moving sliding sleeve -D- slightly if necessary. –  Set compression spring -E- on top.

–  Installation position of freewheel lock: A -  Shown switched off B -  Shown switched on 1 -  Input shaft with output shaft located inside. 2 -  Balls (qty. 6) 3 -  Sliding sleeve, outside machined collar facing compression spring 4 -  Compression spring, 64.5 mm Ø 5 -  Sliding sleeve 6 -  Compression spring, 46 mm Ø 7 -  Bolt with selector pin 8 -  Freewheel –  To fix position of cover with differential and if present, freewheel, screw two opposing M 8 studs.

–  Press in cover. –  Tighten hexagon bolts to specified torque. –  Drive in right flange shaft as well as left output shaft with drive flange using plastic headed hammer. First install new circlip. Flange shaft → Chapter, drive flange with output shaft → Chapter. Rear final drive with freewheel

–  Insert selector mechanism for freewheel and then press sliding sleeve in direction of arrow using screwdriver. –  Bolt selector mechanism with mounting bolt -A- into rear axle housing.

–  Installation position of selector mechanism for freewheel lock: 1 -  Selector lever 2 -  Oil seal 3 -  Mounting bolt 4 -  Spreader pin 5 -  Selector rod –  Insert shim(s). –  Screw in two M 8 studs on opposite sides to fix pinion housing in position.

–  Use shaft bevel gear to drive in pinion housing, press on if necessary. Location: Bolting surfaces -A- are located above oil filler plug -B-. –  Tighten hexagon bolts to specified torque. –  Install viscous coupling.

–  Tighten centring nut to specified torque. A -  Hexagon bolts M 10 x 20 B -  Socket (long) 27 mm When tightening centring nut, counterhold on viscous coupling using pipe -C- with special tool 2004. –  Remove rear final drive from assembly stand. Rear final drive with freewheel

–  Push in control element and turn 90° upwards. –  Pull connecting piece out of control element and hold vacuum hose closed. –  Control element must now have engaged in pin of relay lever. Check by pulling out control element! –  Push control element in again and tighten bolts -arrows- to specified torque.
