Installing > < Removing and installing selector mechanism

Removing
Removing
–  First check whether a coded radio is fitted. In this case, obtain anti-theft code.
–  Move selector lever to “P” position.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery earth strap.
–  Remove middle heat shield above exhaust pipe.
–  Unfasten front heat shield above exhaust pipe and push it back.
If heat shield cannot be pushed back, remove catalytic converter and front heat shield → Rep. Gr.26.
   
–  Remove nuts -arrows- from selector mechanism.
–  Remove selector lever handle → Chapter.
–  Remove centre console trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.

–  Remove connector -1- of printed circuit board.
–  Pull frame -arrows- with cover and printed circuit board up and off selector mechanism.
–  Remove centre console → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.
  N37-0858
–  Unscrew bolt -arrow 1- for selector lever cable.
–  Press selector lever cable lock -arrows 2- together and pull selector lever cable up out of support bracket.
–  Remove connector -arrow 3- of selector mechanism.
–  Disconnect locking cable on selector mechanism from locking lever → Chapter.
–  Remove selector mechanism.
