Installing   Note! t  Before installing, lightly grease ball socket on end of cable. t  Do not bend or kink selector cables. Carry out installation in the reverse sequence, noting the following: –  Guide end-pieces of gear and gate selector cables together into hole in floor pan and push over subframe.

–  Guide gear selector cable -A- and gate selector cable -D- from engine compartment to gearbox.

–  Insert retaining plate with seal in floor pan and bolt on -arrows-. –  In the process, ensure proper seating of seal under floor pan. –  Install rear duct and vent for rear duct → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. Gr.80. –  Install floor covering on driver and front passenger side. –  Tighten bolts on handbrake lever → Brake systems; Rep. Gr.46. –  Install trim and handle for handbrake lever → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.

–  Install reinforcement strut beneath dash panel and tighten bolts -arrows-. –  Guide selector cables into support bracket of gearbox housing and attach to gear selector lever and gate selector lever. –  Secure selector housing to body with new nuts. –  Install front propshaft → Chapter. –  Install front heat shield above exhaust pipe. –  Attach front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold or turbocharger. → Repair group 26; Removing and installing parts of exhaust system

–  Press both cables into support bracket on gearbox to stop. To do this, turn quick-release connections in -direction of arrow A- and insert cable with notch -arrows B- in support bracket. If properly installed, quick-release connection turns by itself in its locked position. The cable can then not be pulled upwards out of support bracket. –  Connect gear selector cable and gate selector cable to respective cable end-pieces.

–  Now turn locking mechanism on gear selector cable and gate selector cable clockwise to stop -arrow 1-. The spring presses the locking mechanism into original position -arrow 2-. –  Adjusting selector mechanism (through gearbox date 12 01 3) → Chapter. Adjusting selector mechanism (from gearbox date 13 01 3) → Chapter. –  Install battery and battery holder → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27. –  Bolt on coolant expansion tank. –  Push connector onto coolant expansion tank.

–  Install battery trim -2-. –  Install air duct trim -1--arrows-. –  Connect earth strap to battery.   Note! Note radio code for vehicles with coded radio. Torque settings Selector lever housing to body → Item Cable retaining plate to body → Item Handbrake lever to body → Brake systems; Rep. Gr.46
