Pressing tapered roller bearing outer race into clutch housing
l
Insert the conical roller bearing outer ring with a 0.65 mm shim into the clutch housing
–
Press the gearbox casing directly onto the base of the bearing using the kit (case) -U-40200A- .
Note
Inner and outer tapered roller bearing races are paired. Do not interchange!
Fitting the outer ring of the roller bearing into the gearbox casing
–
Support the gearbox casing on the base -U-40450/1- with the adapter -U-40450/11-, socket -U-40450/4- and as a base for connecting the inner ring, the installation tool -U-10103-, adapter -U-40200/10- and the adapter -U-40200/5-.
–
Place the differential on the clutch housing.
–
Fit onto the gearbox casing and tighten the 5 bolts. Tightening torque → Item
–
Press the differential towards the gearbox casing rotating it 8 times.
–
Fit the support -T20020- and the measurement tool together onto the gearbox casing.
–
Attach dial gauge and set to „0“ with 1 mm preload.
A -
30 mm gauge extension
–
Move the differential upwards and downwards, read the play indicated by the gauge and note it (in the example: 0.70 mm).
Determining thickness of shim:
The specified bearing preload is obtained by adding a constant value for preload (0.25 mm) to the reading obtained.
Pulling outer race for tapered roller bearing out of gearbox housing
–
Use the extractor kit -T20140- with adaptor -T20140/30-.
–
Fit the shim or shims according to the table, (the shim of the calculated measurement is fitted, or the closest larger one).
–
Re-insert the outer ring and tighten the gearbox casing with the correct torque.
