Selector lever installation checking > < Adjusting selector mechanism

–  Remove the central console cover → Rep. gr.68.
   
–  Turn back cover upwards, over knob.
–  With gear lever in neutral, move the gear lever to the left and insert into the selector track of 1st / 2nd gear.
–  Slightly move soundproofing to one side.

–  Secure the gear lever with the retention tool -T10027A-.
–  Remove engine cover → Booklet101.
–  Remove the air filter housing, the air hose and the air conduit hoses → Rep. gr.24 and → Rep. gr.23.

–  Unlock retaining element -A- for selector and shift cable -B- as follows:
–  Press moveable sleeve forwards as far as it will go -arrow 1-.
–  Move as far as possible -arrow 2- and turn right to fix it in place.
  Note
The control cable -B- must be able to move in its securing element.
l  Gearbox in „neutral“
Immobilise the gear selection shaft as follows:
  A34-0592
–  Shift the gear mechanism -1- in the direction of -arrow A- until it is in the track for the 1st and 2nd gear. Simultaneously turn locking pin-2- toward -arrow B- and shift. This blocks the gear mechanism.
The gear selection shaft will then remain immobilised and you will not be able to move it.

–  Ensure that the selection and gear control cables -B- are well secured and without tension in the securing element -A-.
–  Slacken moveable sleeve -arrow 1-.
–  Slide the moveable sleeve to the limit -arrow 2-.
The control cable is now adjusted.
–  Extract the locking pin from the gearbox in order to release the gear control mechanism.
–  Remove counterhold -T10027A- from gear selector mechanism.
–  Gear lever knob, checking the adjustment → Chapter.
–  Fit the gear lever cover → Chapter.
