Selector lever adjustment: check > < Gear selection mechanism: adjustment

–  Separate the gear selection lever boot from the centre console → Bodywork, interior installation work; Rep. gr.68
   
–  Turn back cover upwards, over knob.
–  With gearbox in neutral, guide gear lever to the left into 1st/2nd gear gate.

–  Slightly move soundproofing to one side.
–  Secure the gear lever with the counterhold -T10027A -.
  Note
soundproofing has been removed in Fig.
–  Disconnect the battery earth strap.

Observe the safety measures to be adopted when disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27
–  Remove engine cover → Booklet101.
–  Remove the air filter body, breather hose and air duct hoses → Rep. gr.24 and → Rep. gr.23 .

–  Remove the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove battery tray -arrows- and remove from vehicle.
–  Release the safety catch of the cables, as follows
–  Turn the lock nut left, and push the mobile sleeve forward -arrow 1- as far as it will go.

–  Turn the nut right -arrow 2-, and the mobile sleeve is locked.

The control cable -B- must be able to move in its securing element.

l  Gearbox must be in neutral.
Immobilise the selector shaft / link, as follows:
–  Press the gear selector shaft/link in the direction of the -arrow 1-, downwards, until it enters the gear change track of 1st / 2nd gear. When doing so, turn the bolt -A- in the direction of the -arrow 2- until the selector shaft/link is locked.
The selector shaft/link is then immobilised, and cannot be moved.
–  Ensure that the gear selector and control cables are properly attached to the connectors of the gear selector and connection rods, and that they are not tense.

–  Turn the lock nut in the direction of the -arrow- to release the cable. The spring returns the securing mechanism to the initial position. Attention that the mobile sleeve reaches the attack-arrow 2- and stops with the nut.
The control cable is now adjusted.
–  Remove counterhold -T10027A - from gear selector mechanism.
–  Check adjustment of gear selector mechanism → Chapter
–  Install gear selector mechanism cover → Chapter.
