  Note
t  Lubricate bearing positions and sliding surfaces.
t  Allocate grease using → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA).
1 - Gear selector cable
q   Connect to cable end-piece → Item
q   Installation position → Chapter
2 - Selection control cable
q   Connect to cable end-piece → Item
q   Installation position → Chapter
3 - Drift sleeve
4 - Lever protection box
5 - Retainer washer
q   Take care not to damage selector cables when removing.
q   Always renew
6 - Hexagon bolt, 20 Nm
q   Qty. 3 in vehicles with petrol engine
q   In vehicles with turbo diesel engine, cable support bracket secured with 2 hexagon bolts and one hexagon nut, 20 Nm
7 - Retainer washer
q   Take care not to damage selector cables when removing.
q   Always renew
8 - Cable support bracket
q   In some selector mechanisms, cable support bracket secured with 2 hexagon bolts and one hexagon nut
9 - Grommet
q   Cable support bracket mounting on gearbox
10 - Spacer
11 - Cable attachment
q   After installing, adjust selector mechanism → Chapter
q   For gate selector cable to relay lever
q   Do not interchange! Cable end-pieces for gate selector cable to relay lever and gear selector cable to gearbox selector lever are different.
q   Remove and install together with relay lever → Chapter
q   Removing → Fig.
q   Pressing on → Fig.
q   Allocation → Fig.
12 - Return lever
q   Installation position → Fig.
q   Remove and install → Chapter relay lever together with cable end-piece
q   If there is a hole -arrow- in bearing shaft, press in clip → Item
q   After installing, adjust selector mechanism → Chapter
13 - Wiring clip
q   For relay lever with hole -arrow- in bearing shaft of relay lever
14 - Runner
15 - Gearbox selector lever
q   Installing → Fig.
q   Installation position → Fig.
q   After installing, adjust selector mechanism → Chapter
16 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 23 Nm
q   Always renew
17 - Cable attachment
q   After installing, adjust selector mechanism → Chapter
q   Secures gear selector cable to gearbox selector lever
q   Do not mix up. Cable end-pieces for gate selector cable to relay lever and gear selector cable to gearbox selector lever are different.
q   Allocation → Fig.
18 - Retainer washer
q   Always renew

   
Identification of cable end-pieces
The holes in the cable end-pieces have different diameters.

Cable end-piece for:Gap „a“
1. - Gear selector cable to gearbox selector lever8.5 mm
2. - Gate selector cable to relay lever10 mm

   
Installation position of gearbox selector lever and relay lever
1 - Gearbox selector lever with damper weight
2 - Relay lever engages in guide rail of gearbox selector lever via shoe -arrow-.

Installing gearbox selector lever
–  When installing gearbox selector lever, make sure that the gap in the splines -arrow A- aligns with the wider spline -arrow B- on the selector shaft.

Renewing cable end-pieces
–  Pull end-pieces on gate selector cable and gear selector cable forward to stop -arrow 1- and then turn to left to lock -arrows 2-.
–  Remove securing clip for gear selector cable from gear selector lever → Item.
–  Remove cable end-piece for gate selector cable together with relay lever → Chapter.
–  Carefully pry off cable end-piece → Fig..
–  Spread a small amount of grease on pins of gearbox selector lever and relay lever.
l  Allocate grease using → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA).
–  Renew securing clip for cable end-piece on gear selector cable.
–  Install cable end-piece for gate selector cable together with relay lever → Chapter.
Adjust selector mechanism → Chapter.
