Brief description
Selector mechanism and selector lever cable are not allowed to be separated from one another. They can only be removed together. When fitting, it may be necessary to make more space in the engine compartment. It is common that the air filter has to be removed for this purpose.
In addition, parts of exhaust system and heat shield must be removed.
The ventral console may have to be removed from the interior.
  Note
After installation, the tension must be checked if it is running properly and adjusted.
Removal:
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove parts of → exhaust system; Rep. gr.26.
–  Remove heat shield → Rep. gr.66.
–  Removing air filter → Rep. gr.24.

–  Remove lock washers -A- and -B-. Securing clips must be renewed when cable is adjusted.
Loosen the adjusting screw -arrow-.
–  Remove selector lever knob → Chapter.
–  Remove centre console → Rep. gr.68.

–  Remove 4 bolts.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm

–  Remove selector mechanism.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
–  Before attaching the selector lever cable to the selector shaft again: Check the selector lever cable.
–  Install heat shield → Rep. gr.66.
–  Fit the components of the → exhaust system; Rep. gr.26.
–  Adjust selector lever cable after installing.
