Topping up ATF
   
–  Lever off cap -arrow- for securing plug with a screwdriver. This destroys cap detent; therefore, always renew cap.
–  Remove plug from filler pipe.
On some gearboxes a cap with a spring retainer is installed. This cap can be used again.

–  Fill with ATF using -V.A.G 1924-, until ATF runs out of level hole -arrow-.
An ATF level which is too low or too high will impair the function of the gearbox.

–  Fit new oil seal to plug -arrow 1- and tighten to 15 Nm.
–  Push plug onto filler pipe until locking bar engages or push on plug of filler pipe and secure with a new cap -arrow 2-.
–  Engage cap.
Always renew cap. The cap secures the plug.
–  Terminate output of -V.A.G 1551- → Automatic gearbox 099 - 4-speed; Rep. Gr.01.
–  Lower vehicle.
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Separate connector to fault reader -V.A.G 1551-.
