Repairing selector mechanism for vehicles after 06.00 > < Dismantling and assembling selector lever

Adjusting starter inhibitor switch in right-hand drive vehicles
In right-hand drive vehicles, starter must not operate in selector lever positions “P” and “N” when locking lever in selector lever handle is pressed. If it does, refer to circuit diagram and check starter inhibitor switch or starter inhibitor and reversing light relay -J226- after making setting.
Selector levers supplied as parts are set.
–  Move selector lever to “P” position.
–  Press bulb holder of indicator lighting onto stop on bulb holder support.
–  Push locking lever under push rod. Press push rod of selector lever against locking lever and hold it in this position.
–  Turn setscrew on bulb holder until switch is closed.
–  Now turn setscrew on bulb holder until switch interrupts circuit.
–  Do not turn setscrew any further, instead turn back through a quarter-turn in opposite direction for play-free setting.
–  Check setting:

t  On right-hand drive vehicles the starter must only operate in selector lever positions “P” and “N” when the locking button in the selector lever handle is not pressed.
