–  Open the tailgate and support it correctly.
   
–  Insert a small screwdriver below the elastic staple -2-.
–  Lift the elastic staple -2- until it comes out above the casting in the direction of the -arrow-.
–  Remove the damper -1- from the spherical pivots -3- and -4-.

After removing the damper -1- refit the elastic staple -2- in position.
  DANGER!
If the gas shock absorber is to be used again, take care. The spring clip should not be removed from the casting otherwise it may become damaged. The damping would come out of the casing and could cause damage or injure the operator.
