Remove the damaged rear window > < Engine - assembly overview
Remove the undamaged windscreen
Remove the undamaged windscreen
  Note
When removing a screen you must wear protective goggles and leather gloves.
–  Remove rear shelf → Rep. gr.70.
–  Pull off or unscrew electrical connections for rear window heating and rear window aerial.
–  Press connections against window glass towards centre of vehicle.
   
–  Pierce adhesive sealant in bottom corner of window using an awl from inside of vehicle until awl eyelet is visible on outside.
–  Insert cutting cord into eyelet of awl and pull it into vehicle interior.

–  Thread cutting cord into reel and secure.
–  Position cutting cord around rear window as shown in illustration.
–  Cutting thread must be pressed beneath trim covers at top and side edges of window.

–  Place the end of the cutting thread around the stop buffer -arrow- and screw together with the fixing screws of the rear flap hinges.

–  Cut out first part of window glass.

–  Move reel as shown and attach guide roller at bottom corner of rear window.
t  Route cutting cord as illustrated.
–  Cut out glass up to the point where the cutting cord no longer runs in the guide roller.

–  Remove idler pulley and continue to cut window.

–  Move reel as shown and attach guide roller at bottom corner of rear window.
t  Route cutting cord as illustrated.
–  Cut out glass up to the point where the cutting cord no longer runs in the guide roller.
–  Insert protective cover 1474/12 between moulded headliner and rear window.

–  Remove idler pulley and continue to cut window.
–  Now repeat these steps in the top left and bottom right corners of the windscreen.
–  Completely cut out rear window following this procedure.
–  Use two double suction holders to take out windscreen.
