  Note
t  Before working with the airbag system, always read the safety precautions → Chapter.
t  Pay attention to coding (obtain as necessary) for vehicles with coded radio/radio navigation system (RNS).
t  It is only possible to remove the seat height adjustment element when the seat is at its highest position due to the resistance of the spring.
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth connection from battery.
–  Remove the front seat → Chapter.
  Note
The side airbag adapt. -VAS 5232- should be always connected in the dismounting procedure.
   
–  Position the rear seat in the seat bracket -T20172/5-.

–  Removing front seat belt closing → Chapter.
Depending upon equipment:
–  Remove the seat trim with drawer cover → Chapter.
–  Remove the seat trim with drawer → Chapter.
All vehicles (continued)
–  Carefully unhook the tensioning springs -3-, using a screwdriver.
–  Remove the cotter pin -1- for securing the seat trim, undoing the Torx bolt -arrow-.
–  Remove the three remaining bolts -2- from the control element.
