Removing and installing the rear seat backrest head restraint guide on the side 2/3, right-side

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Hook -3438-

t	Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-

t	Lever -U30800-

Removal: –  Remove the backrest catch cover 2/3, right-side → Chapter. Continues only for vehicles with centre arm rest –  Remove the central armrest → Chapter. Continued for all vehicles –  Remove the backrest head restraint 2/3, right-side → Chapter. Continue only for vehicles with load-through hatch frame –  Removing the load-through hatch frame → Chapter. –  Removing the load-through hatch → Chapter. Continued for all vehicles –  Remove 2/3 section (right-side) of split backrest → Chapter. Continues only for vehicles with Top Tether

–  Unscrew bolts -5- and detach retaining bracket -1-. Continued for all vehicles

–  Press out the plastic strip -3- at the rear over the entire perimeter using the lever -U30800-. –  Hang out the profile -2- from the lock -1- in direction of the -arrows-.

–  Lever out the sleeve -3- using the lever -U30800-. –  Remove the cover -2- from the sleeve of the frame -1-. Continues only for vehicles with centre arm rest

–  First loosen the trim -2- in -the direction of arrow A- and then remove in -the direction of arrow B-.

–  Press off the plastic strips -1- and -3- from the brackets of the frame.

–  Release the plastic strip -4 - from the clips -3- using the lever -U30800-. –  Remove cover -1- from upholstery -2-.

–  Press off the plastic strips -1- from the brackets of the frame. Continued for all vehicles

–  Lift the padding -6- from the frame -5- and fix respectively. –  Insert the hook -3438- into the head restraint guide -1- and hang in the fastener -2-. –  Using the hook -3438- lift in the direction of arrow -A-. Using a pliers -4-, press the fasteners -3- together and remove the head restrain guide -1- from the mount in the direction of arrow -B-. –  Carry out the same steps for removing the other head restraint guides.

Installation –  Position the padding on the frame. –  Insert the head restraint guide -1- in the respective mount -arrows-.

–  Press off the plastic strips -1- into the brackets of the frame.

–  Press the plastic strip -4- in the clamps -3-. –  Mount the cover -1- onto the padding -2-.

–  Press the plastic strips -1- and -3- into the bracket of the frame.

–  Mount the trims -1- in the sequence of the -arrows-.

–  Mount the sleeve -3-. –  Mount the cover -2- onto the sleeve of the frame -1-.

–  Hang the profile -2- into the lock -1- in direction of the -arrows-. –  Press in the plastic strip -3- at the rear over the entire perimeter using the lever -U30800-. Continues only for vehicles with Top Tether

–  Mount the retaining bracket -1- next to the guide -3- on the seat backrest. –  Tighten the bolts -5- to 9 Nm. Continued for all vehicles –  Install the backrest catch cover 2/3, right-side → Anchor. Continue only for vehicles with load-through hatch frame –  Install the load-through hatch → Anchor. –  Install the load-through hatch frame → Anchor. Continues only for vehicles with centre arm rest –  Install the centre armrest → Anchor. Continued for all vehicles –  Install 2/3 section (right-side) of split backrest → Anchor. –  Install the backrest head restraint in the middle 2/3, right-side → Anchor.
