  Note
t  The following sequences described for the removal and installation apply for the rear seat bench on the left side. The procedures for the right-hand side are similar.
t  Remove and install the cover and padding of the load-through hatch / centre armrest unit → Chapter.

Removing
–  Remove the rear seats → Chapter, → Chapter.
  Note
The right part of the seat does not need to be removed from the vehicle when removing the upholstery from the backrest on the right side.
–  Fold the backrest forwards.

Vehicles with different luggage compartment floors
–  Remove the luggage compartment floor from the vehicle.
  Caution
The trim -3- is under tension due to the two springs. In order to remove the padding, a second mechanic has to push the trim from behind.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Undo the screw -4- and remove the pull rod -5- from the slide piece -6-.
  Caution
The backrest must be folded forwards in order to release the pull rod -5-. The spring element is free of tension in this position.
–  Return the backrest to its correct position.
–  Press the locking mechanisms -arrows- and release the trim of the seat belt -2- from the mount.

   
–  Unscrew the screws -7- and loosen the end fitting of the belt -6- from the seat.
–  Remove the safety belt towards the front.
–  Remove the upholstery profile -3- and -4- from the mounts -5- on the backrest frame.
–  Remove the cover -1- on the sides.
–  Remove the clips -8-.
  Note
If the clips -8- break off during removal, they must be renewed for reinstallation.
–  Remove the upholstery -1- and padding -2- from the backrest frame.

   
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order. The following should be taken into account:
  Note
When installing, the rear fitting of the seat belt cannot be inserted via the ISOFIX securing plate.
–  Tighten bolt -4- to 5 ± 0.4 Nm.
–  Functional test of the backrest locking mechanism.
