–  Remove rear wiper arm (M8 hexagon nut = 15 Nm).
   
–  Remove rear lid trim: → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
–  Pull off connections for heated rear window and press connecting tabs onto window.
–  Loosen sealing lip from window flange with plastic wedge and spray in cleaning solution D 009 401 04 (as substitute for lubricant).
–  Lay cutting cord in window flange with help of tube -1-.

–  Use the handle -1- to guide trimming needle -2- under sealing lip -3- and puncture through adhesive bead.
Trimming needle must be guided as close to window as possible (do not damage heater element).
–  Unscrew handle and pass cutting cord through eye of needle.
–  Pull one end of cutting cord inside and secure to the reel device (use pliers and gloves).
–  Pull the other end of the thread through into the interior and pull against it using the pull handle -V.A.G 1351/1-. In so doing, move the trimming needle until the cord is lain double over a few centimetres.

–  Position reel device -V.A.G 1654-.
–  Move reel device according to position required and cut window free.
–  Press cutting thread against window glass with plastic wedge during cutting process, in order to have clearance at window flange.
