Windscreen: removing
–  Remove the windscreen wiper blades (hexagonal bolts M8 = 20 Nm).
–  Remove the plenum chamber protector → Chapter.
   
–  Dismantle the interior rear-view mirror -1- from the securing plate by pressing it obliquely downwards -arrow- (retaining springs at the base of the mirror).
–  Remove the sunshade and its brackets → Sunshade: removing; Rep. Gr.68.
–  Remove the interior light → Fitting and removing the interior light; Rep. Gr.96 .
–  Release the moulded interior roof and lower it.

–  Release the sealing lip from the glass flange using the plastic wedge and apply or spray sliding agent (cleaning solution).
–  Using the small tube -2- fit the cutting wire on the glass flange.
–  If the opening is too tight, lead the cutting wire out and press it, using the plastic wedge, under the lip.

–  Loosen the bolt -3- and secure the cutting wire -2- .
–  Insert, through the sealing glue, the other end of the cutting wire into the vehicle using the Removal tool -VAG 1474B--1- . Set the double edge cutting wire after some centimetres.

–  Secure the end of the wire (interior) on the spool of the Removal tool -VAG 1474B-.
–  Fit the spool in the “position I”.
–  Move spool to corresponding positions and free glass by cutting sealant.
–  Whilst cutting, press the cutting thread or wire towards the glass with the lever -U-30800- in order to have space between the glass flange and the instrument panel.
