Oil seal for the right flange shaft and bearing „J“: replace Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Pressure plate -VW 401-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Pressure plate -VW 402-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Die -VW 407-

t	Die -VW 412-

t	Release lever -VW 681-

t	Tube -32 - 109-

t  Tube element -2040-

t  Punch -2062-

Operation process –  Remove flange shaft (right-side) → Chapter. –  Remove circlip -arrow A- for ball bearing.

Removing oil seal –  Press flange shaft out of bearing bracket for flange shaft, as shown in illustration. –  Extract the flanged shaft oil seal from the bearing bracket using the extractor lever -VW 681-.

Removing bearing „J“ (ball bearing for right flange shaft) –  Press ball bearing out of bearing bracket.

Installing bearing „J“ (ball bearing for right flange shaft) –  Press new ball bearing into bearing bracket.

Installing oil seal –  Lubricate the outer circumference and the sealing lip of the oil seal with axle oil. l  Fitting position: Open side of oil seal facing manual gearbox –  Drive in the new oil seal for the right flange shaft equally using the driving-in mandrel -2062-. l  Driving-in depth (standard): 5.5 mm beneath surface of bearing bracket l  Driving-in depth when repairing: 6.5 mm, when a second hand flange shaft is used.   Note Do not tilt the oil seal in the process

–  Press bearing bracket with ball bearing onto flange shaft.

–  Insert circlip -arrow A-. –  Install flange shaft (right-side) → Chapter. –  Check gear oil level in front final drive → Chapter.
