Checking oil level and topping up
Checking oil level and topping up
If DSG oil must be added, use only oil listed in → Electronic parts catalogue „ETKA“.
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Central diagnosis -VAS 505X-
  W00-10343
t  Extractor -SAT 1100-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-2708
t  Adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A-
Conditions
t  Vehicle on a level, all lifting platform housings at the same height.
t  Noise insulation removed
t  Diagnosis tester -VAS 505X- connected
t  The oil temperature must not be higher than 50° C at the beginning of the work.
t  Test temperature: 35 - 45 ℃
Checking
–  Connect Diagnosis tester -VAS 505X- and identify vehicle via the Guided functions.
–  Select dual clutch gearbox.
–  Select Check fluid level.
  Note
If oil temperature is above 45 °C, let the gearbox cool off.
Engine is running at idling speed with selector lever in „P“.
–  Remove oil drain plug.
  W00-10811
To gearbox manufacture date „20 September 2004“, gearboxes were constructed with 2 plugs.
It is important not to interchange these bolts. Only undo the screw -arrow- located near to the pendulum support.
Gearboxes built after 20th September 2004, i.e. which are »later«, are fitted with bolt -A- only.
  N34-10673
–  Renew oil seal -arrow- of bolt.
  Note
Even if oil level is too low, a small amount of oil will initially run out of oil level pipe because pipe fills up during operation.
–  Let surplus oil drain out.
–  When excess oil has run out (when it begins only to drip), install plug with new seal.
–  Top up oil if no oil flows out.
Topping up
  N38-0037
–  Before screwing adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A- onto oil bottle, measure length of breather pipe, dimension -a- and shorten → Anchor.
Dimension -a- = 210 mm
  Note
The dimension -a- is measured from the shaft (green area in the counting glass) of the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262 A-.
  N34-11768
–  Screw the adapter for filling -VAS 6262 A- hand tight into the inspection hole.
–  Fill 1.0 litres of oil.
Shake bottles before opening.
–  Remove the oil tester w/auto -VAS 6262 A- at the rapid connection and check the following visually:
If oil now flows out of hole in adapter:
Oil does not need topping up.
–  Let surplus oil drain out.
–  When excess oil has run out (when it begins only to drip), remove adapter for filling oil -VAS 6262 A- and install plug with new seal.
If no oil drips out of inspection hole:
–  Another litre of oil must be added → Chapter.
  WARNING
An oil level which is too low or too high will impair the function of the gearbox.
