Air conditioning and heating: engine bay
  Caution
Disconnect battery earth strap before working on the electrical system.
  Note!
t  Before disconnecting the battery check anti-theft coding on the radio
t  If the battery is reconnected check the vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric comfort system, etc.) following the indications in the Workshop Manual and/or the Operating Instructions
t  Parts marked with an asterisk (*) must only be repaired in a Specialised Official Garage, since the coolant agent has to be removed with the unit -SAT 4006B-
1 - Suction and filling valve*
q   Low pressure side
2 - Expansion valve*
q   The path should be hermetically sealed against splashing water
3 - Dust and pollen filter
q   Below the plenum chamber cover
q   Removal → Chapter, Dust and pollen filter: removing and installing
4 - Outside temperature switch -F38-
q   Removal → Fig.
q   Disconnect the magnetic coupling -N25- for too low outside temperatures (disconnect at 2 °C, connect at 7 °C)
q   Clipped in the middle of the plenum chamber
5 - Plug heat exchanger hoses
6 - Plenum chamber cover
q   Removal and installation → Chapter
7 - Vacuum hose
q   Connection plan for vacuum hoses → Chapter
8 - Coolant temperature sender -G62-
q   In the thermostat
q   -G62- disconnect the magnetic coupling -N25- for too high temperatures of the coolant (disconnect at 119 °C, connect at 112 °C)
9 - Two way valve for fresh air and air recirculation flap -N63-
q   With the created pressure and the existing vacuum, the depressor closes the flap
q   When the pressure is not created or the vacuum existant, the depressor opens the flap
q   Connection plan for vacuum hoses → Chapter
q   Removal and installation → Fig.
10 - Vacuum tank
q   Below the battery retainer
q   Introduction depth of the vacuum hose: 30 mm
q   Installation and removal → Fig.
q   Only for vehicles with petrol engine
11 - Radiator fan control unit -J293-
12 - Condenser*
13 - Pressure relief valve*
q   Check → Fig.
14 - Magnetic coupling -N25-*
q   Manufacturer Sanden
q   Magnetic coupling -N25-: repair → Chapter
15 - Pressure sender -G65- or air conditioning pressure switch -F129-
q   Removal → Fig.
q   8 Nm
q   Substitute the O-gasket (observe the spare part number)
q   The pressure sender and the pressure switch can be replaced without having to extract the coolant agent of the circuit
q   The pressure sender -G65- sends information to the radiator fan control unit -J293- and the engine control unit
q   Test the air conditioning pressure sender -G65- → Chapter
q   Check the air conditioning pressure switch -F129- → Chapter
Function:
t  Disconnects the air conditioning if the pressure is too low (e.g. in the case of coolant agent leak)
t  Changes the coolant agent radiator fan -V7- to the next higher speed in case of pressure increase in the coolant agent circuit
t  Disconnects the air conditioning if the pressure is too low (e.g. in the case of coolant agent leak)
16 - Drier liquid tank*
17 - Suction and filling valve*
q   High pressure side
18 - Draining valve
q   Removal and installation → Fig.
q   Lip valve cannot be sticked with underbody protection product

Checking draining valve
–  Remove the draining valve -2- from the bulkhead -4-.
To guarantee proper functioning of the draining valve carry out the following checks:
t  Combi-valve must be closed
t  The heat insulator should not be deformed, or present imperfections on the draining valve zone
  E87-0066
Removal of the pressure sender -G65-
–  Remove the connector -1-.
–  Unscrew the pressure sender -2-.
–  Replace the gasket.
  N87-0460
Removal of the outside temperature switch -F38-
–  Separate the connector -1-.
–  Remove the outside temperature switch -3- from its support -2-.
  N87-0560
Checking the compressor pressure relief valve
t  Function: protects the coolant circuit from too high pressures
t  The pressure relief valve indicates if the valve had been opened. In this case a sticker is expelled -arrow-
t  In this case the vehicle must be brought to a Specialized Official Garage
  N87-0420
Removal and installing of the two way valve for fresh air and air recirculation trapdoor -N63-
1 - Cover Test the permeable slot in the open air
2 - Two way valve (other manufacturer shapes are possible)
3 - Vacuum hose towards the depressant for fresh air flap and air recirculation
4 - Depression hose towards the tank and the engine
–  Unlock the two way valve -arrow- and pull downwards.
