Magnetic coupling of the compressor: removing and installing

Magnetic coupling of the compressor: removing and installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  pliers for security rings -A-81124-
t  three arm puller -U-10087A-
t  torque spanner -SAT 8010-
t  extraction system for the coupling in models -T20017A-

  Note!
It is not necessary to open the coolant agent circuit to remove and install the coupling.

Securing the compressor to workshop vice
  Note!
t  Use gags to fix the compressor to the workshop vice
t  Make sure the wiring of the magnetic coupling is not stretched between the workshop vice and the compressor housing

Removal of the hexagon nut
–  Unscrew hexagon nut with the disc coupling counterhold tool -T20017A- and articulated open-jaw spanner or articulated socket spanner.
  E87-0015
Disc coupling removal
–  Place the screwdriver in the existing slot between the coupling disc and the pulley.
–  Turn lightly the screwdriver -arrow-.
–  Repeat the work sequence in other two points of the area -arrows-.
–  Displace coupling disc.
–  Remove the spacing washers.
  N87-0447
Removal of the pulley of the electromagnetic drive
–  Remove the safety ring of the pulley.
  N87-0444
–  Displace the pulley with the three arm puller -U-10087A-.
  E87-0055
–  Place the hook -arrow- just as indicated in the figure.
  Note!
If the hook is placed on the lower edge of the pulley the magnetic coupling coil may be damaged.
  N87-0440
Removal of the electromagnetic coil
–  Remove the safety ring of the magnetic coil.
–  Separate the magnetic coil from the compressor.
  N87-0446
Installing the pulley for the magnetic coupling
  Note!
Place the pully as horizontal as possible to avoid deterioration while mounting.
–  Mount the pulley with the help of the -T20017A--1- tool.
  E87-0058
Checking and adjustment of the separation dimension
–  Measure the separation dimension using a depth gauge and connecting and disconnecting the magnetic coupling (applying a voltage of 12 V).
t  Specification: 0.4...0.8 mm
–  If necessary, adjust the dimension with spacing washers. To do so, remove the coupling disc.
  Note!
t  The separation dimension of all of the area should be comprised between the indicated tolerance
t  The separation dimension can be measured also with the compressor installed
t  If the separation dimension exceeds the specification, coupling disc has to be removed and the separation adjusted, adding or removing spacing washers
