Refrigeration agent circuit: repairs
HD = High-pressure end (high density)
LP = Low-pressure side

1 - Compressor control valve, air conditioning -N280-
q   Do not remove
q   Check activation and operation
  Note
Air conditioning system compressor regulating valve -N280- is actuated by operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- and controls pressure on low-pressure end of refrigerant circuit.
2 - Compressor:
q   Removing and installing refrigerant pipe at compressor → Chapter
q   Replace the O-rings on the connections; for version refer to → Spare parts catalogue
q   To protect the compressor from damage, the engine is must NOT to be started unless refrigerant circuit has been properly assembled.
q   Loosen the Poly-V belt and remove it → Engine, mechanics; Rep. Gr.13
q   Compressor: removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Different compressors depending on country and engine → Chapter and → Spare parts catalogue
q   After the installation of a new compressor or filling with fresh refrigerant oil (e.g. after blowing out the refrigerant circuit), turn the compressor manually 10 revolutions before the first start to avoid damage to the compressor.
3 - Oil drain bolt
q   “Denso” compressors are fitted with a sealing ring which is always to be replaced
q   Tightening torque: 30 Nm
q   Compressor must be removed before screwing out to drain off refrigerant oil. Crank compressor by way of pulley or drive unit to accelerate drainage of refrigerant oil → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a
4 - Pulley/compressor drive unit
q   Replace the pulley → Chapter
q   Checking/renewing compressor drive unit
5 - Pressure relief valve, 10 Nm
q   Do not remove
6 - Junction with valve
7 - High-pressure sender -G65-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking signal
8 - Condenser
q   Replace the O-rings on the connections; for version refer to → Spare parts catalogue
q   Detaching and re-attaching refrigerant pipes → Chapter
q   Removing and fitting the condenser → Chapter
9 - Cover cap
q   With seal
q   Always bolt on
10 - Service connection
q   High-pressure side.
q   For service station for measuring, draining and filling
11 - Screw connection in refrigerant pipe
q   Replace the O-rings; for version refer to → Spare parts catalogue
q   Tightening torque: 15 Nm
12 - Restrictor:
q   Fitted in screw connection → Item
q   O-Ring (7.5 mm / 1.5 mm) → Spare parts catalogue
q   Renew restrictor with O-ring, for version refer to → Spare parts catalogue and → air conditioner with refrigerant R134a
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Apply a small amount of refrigerant oil to the O-ring before installing the restrictor.
13 - Evaporator
q   Replace the O-rings on the connections; for version refer to → Spare parts catalogue
q   Tightening torque: Hexagon nut 25 Nm
q   Removing and installing refrigerant pipe → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
14 - Service connection
q   Low-pressure side.
15 - Cover cap
q   With seal
q   Always bolt on
16 - Collecting tank
q   Replace the O-rings on the connections; for version refer to → Spare parts catalogue
q   Hexagon socket head bolt on the block connection: Tighten the bolt A to 10 Nm for bolts with M6 thread and 25 Nm for bolts with M8 thread.
