  Note
t  The ancillary bracket for air conditioner compressor can be removed and installed without the refrigerant circuit being opened.
t  Take the vehicle to a suitable workshop with specially trained mechanics if the air conditioner compressor must be removed.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

1 - Ancillary bracket for alternator and air conditioner compressor
q   Part No. 037 903 139 L
–  Remove alternator → Rep. Gr.27.
2 - Tensioning element for tensioning roller
3 - Hexagon nut M8
q   30 Nm
4 - Threaded bush
5 - Refrigerant hose
q   Between expansion valve and air conditioner compressor
q   Bolt 22 Nm
6 - Refrigerant hose
q   Between air conditioner compressor and condenser
q   Bolt 22 Nm
7 - Air conditioner compressor
q   Remove air conditioner compressor → Chapter.
q   Remove from ancillary bracket:
q   Remove poly V-belt → Rep. Gr.13.
–  Loosen hexagon bolts -9- by a few turns and drive back threaded bush -4- on air conditioner compressor. Continue unscrewing hexagon bolts.

q   45 Nm
10 - Hexagon bolt M8×42

  Note
When installing poly V-belt, ensure that it is correctly seated on poly V-belt pulley.
